State Fair Family Portraits!

What a compliment!

I received this pretty awesome Christmas card recently and it reminded me how exited I was to post these highlights and just how late I am in doing it…Better late than never!

This is one family portrait experience I’ll never forget and one of the most special to date. We just LOVE this family – not only because they are such wonderful friends & neighbors or because their son is one of Gina’s boyfriends (yes, she’s breaking us in early) but because Casey is a very talented photographer and definitely knows her stuff when it comes to themed sessions and all the details! We just met a year ago but I feel like I could just as easily say, “remember that time in school…” She’s just one of those people that makes you feel like you’ve always known each other but are so thankful you finally do at least!

So her request was a vintage themed session at the state fair and it had all the makings of one – the wardrobe styling, giant balloons, a homemade apple pie, pageboy hat and bow tie and of course the setting itself. The state fair is no easy backdrop for family portraits – crazy lights, fast rides, sticky caramel popcorn fingers just to name a few. Pair those with a photographer 9 months pregnant and you definitely have a “4 ticket” ride. I’m so glad we did it though – partly because I’m convinced my desperate need to ride the scrambler had a part in Roman’s early arrival (I did receive the proper scolding from my own Mom for that particular choice). Anyway, I can’t wait for next year when the kids are older and Gina for one is a little more enthused. Hopefully it will yield more pictures than just her eating a corndog – Classy!

Hope you enjoy!
