Richmond Bridal Show Highlights!

Please Note:  We did officially change our business name from Lucia Belle Photography to Jessica Maida Photography in September 2012.  We hope this recent change will continue to provide a more personal and relatable experience going forward with us!

Sunday was our 3rd show at the Richmond Bridal Showcase and I kept with the shabby chic vibe I’m still addicted to but did a little less decorating and a LOT more canvas! Go big or go home so to speak. In fact, I was asked a couple of times if I was a photography booth or a canvas vendor?!? This kind of stuff just makes it more fun and enjoyable for me but Yes! we are Definitely Photography (although I could order/size canvases in my sleep by now)!

Where I used to work before delving into wedding photography full time, my group would always do the “Takeaways” after an important event, seminar, guest speaker – the funny things, hysterical quotes, things we learned. I decided to revisit this because bridal shows are very helpful and resourceful (for me too) but they can also be pretty humorous where just about anything can happen. Here’s some things that made me laugh a little on the inside and sometimes even out loud:

Bridal Show Takeaways!

Working a bridal show is so much easier NOT being 8 months pregnant!
Meeting exceptionally talented wedding vendors throughout the day
Getting to see two of my 2012 Brides again (Thanks Brittany & Amanda for visiting!)
Trash cans can randomly appear directly in front of your booth if you’re not careful

…and then the “Quotes of the Day…”

“Wait, you’re not Mike’s Photos”
“So, do you do photography?”
“Are you a canvas vendor?”
“If I win, I get 150 dollars!!!” (I didn’t have the heart to say again the drawing was for $150 OFF lol)

And my absolute favorite of all “So can I book my wedding with you right now!!”

Finally, I know I can’t do these shows without major support behind the scenes. I’m a mother of two little ones after all and anyone in those shoes knows there’s nothing easy about doing…well pretty much anything. A very special thanks to my parents for taking on my Terrible Two (in the midst of potty training nonetheless) and my sweet little Roman. Thanks to my dear friend Casey for supporting me all day and taking all the craziness in stride. And because I don’t want to hear it if it’s not put in writing - my husband is not just a pretty Fabulous photographer, he’s also bridal show Wall Builder Extraordinaire!

I’m very grateful for all the brides, grooms and their friends & families that visited us and I sincerely hope the show was a wonderful and helpful experience. Here are a just few highlights from our little corner and as usual Happy Wedding Planning!
